What certificates should a professional rope access company have?

Whenever you’re in need of professional services, you want to make sure that the expert you are hiring actually has the credentials to do the job properly. While it might be tempting to just rely on Google reviews or their website’s reassurance that they can do what you want them to do, sometimes you need something more. This is especially true for rope access companies, as a job done poorly may result in physical injury and property damage. Luckily, you can very easily verify whether a rope access company is worth your time or not – by checking their certificates.

IRATA – the main pillar of rope access certification

Certificates issued by IRATA are pretty much mandatory in the UK for all rope access practitioners. The organisation has been active for 25 years now, all the while monitoring the competences of various rope access companies. They’re considered the main authority in the field of industrial rope access, with certified members all around the world. A certificate is awarded to members who comply with the IRATA International Code of Practice (ICOP) and the IRATA Training, Assessment and Certification Scheme (TACS). All members of a rope access company must be certified in order for the company to be officially recognised as an IRATA member.
