Selecting the right sealant for the substrate
Sealant choice is a technical decision, not a default.
- low-modulus silicones perform well on glass and metal and handle high movement
- polyurethanes offer excellent adhesion and abrasion resistance on concrete and masonry
- hybrid MS polymers are useful where paintability or difficult adhesion is a factor
Fire-rated and intumescent sealants are required at compartmentation lines, and staining risk must be assessed carefully on porous natural stone.

Rope access for high-level sealant work
Mastic renewal is distributed work: it follows every window perimeter and every panel joint over the whole face of a building.
That distribution makes it particularly expensive to deliver from scaffolding, where you are paying for a full temporary structure to support what is, in reality, a small volume of highly skilled hand finishing.
Rope access matches the task far better. Our IRATA-certified technicians work down each vertical line of joints in sequence, moving between elevations quickly and reaching recessed reveals, projecting features and set-back panels that a cradle or MEWP cannot easily approach.

Every project begins with a close-up survey to establish the extent of failure, the substrate condition and the joint dimensions, followed by a site-specific method statement and risk assessment. Where appropriate we complete a sample bay for approval before proceeding.
Occupied buildings are programmed carefully, with residents or tenants notified in advance, and we work in defined sections so that disruption stays contained.
On completion you receive a full report with photographic records of the work.
