Rope Access Service

Rope Access Roof Safety Services

Most roofs were never designed for people to work on them safely. The first time anyone discovers a problem is often the moment a contractor refuses to start work — or worse.

We deliver rope access roof safety services that bring high-level fall protection back into compliance.

Our IRATA-certified technicians test, certify, install and upgrade the systems that keep cleaners, surveyors and maintenance teams safe at height.

Why roof safety matters

Working at height is the single largest cause of workplace fatalities in the UK construction sector. The HSE puts strict duties on building owners and managers to provide and maintain safe access for anyone working on a roof — cleaners, surveyors, engineers, antenna installers, photovoltaic teams.

Fall protection systems need annual testing and clear documentation, and a lot of buildings simply don’t have it. Without certified anchors, no responsible contractor will set foot on your roof.

What our roof safety service covers

RAIL’s roof safety teams routinely handle:

  1. Eye-bolt and anchor testing: annual load testing and certification to BS 7883, BS EN 795 and BS 8610.
  2. Eye-bolt installation: fitting new anchors where existing provision is missing or inadequate.
  3. Horizontal lifeline systems: design, installation and testing of cable-based fall arrest systems.
  4. Mansafe and rail-based systems: installing and certifying continuous track systems on plant decks and ridges.
  5. Guardrail installation: free-standing and fixed edge protection on flat roofs.
  6. Access hatch and ladder safety upgrades: keeping the route to the roof safe before anyone gets up there.

Every test and install is documented with a written report, individual anchor certificates and photographic records.

Why rope access teams should do roof safety work

Nobody understands rope-access loads on an eye-bolt better than the people who hang from them.

RAIL’s roof safety technicians install and test systems they themselves will use, which sharpens the attention to fixing detail, load path and substrate condition.

Our teams also reach difficult anchors — on parapets, on plant decks, behind chimneys — without needing a separate mobilisation.

Combined with roof painting and waterproofing

Roof safety upgrades are a natural fit alongside other roof works. While we’re on the roof testing eye-bolts, we’ll also flag failing waterproofing, perished mastic and damaged flashings, and we can fold those repairs into the same mobilisation.

IRATA-certified, fully insured & properly documented

Every RAIL technician on a roof safety project is IRATA certified and trained on the relevant fall protection systems. Each job runs from a written risk assessment and method statement, supervised on site by an IRATA Level 3.

We provide full certification packs at handover and we’ll happily share copies with incoming contractors or your insurer on request.

Get your roof certified and compliant

If your eye-bolts are out of date, your fall protection is incomplete or your contractors are pushing back about working at height, contact RAIL today for a roof safety inspection and a fixed-price upgrade quote. Our rope access specialists will bring your roof into compliance.
