Rope Access Service

Rope Access High-Pressure Cleaning Services

Some surfaces respond to gentle steam. Others need real water pressure. Concrete, engineering brick, hard cladding panels, heavy traffic film, baked-on contamination, mineral deposits and tenacious algae often won’t shift without high-pressure cleaning.

At RAIL, we combine industrial pressure washing with IRATA-certified rope access to clean high-rise façades, hard substrates and difficult elevations across London and the UK.

Why high-pressure cleaning at height needs rope access

High-pressure cleaning is hard work, especially at height. Reaction forces from the lance push the operator backwards, hoses are heavy and water management matters.

Doing it from a ladder is unsafe, from a cradle is restrictive and from a scaffold is expensive.

Rope access gives a properly trained technician a stable working position with hands free for the lance, two ropes for fall protection and direct access to every part of the elevation. The result is faster cleaning, better coverage and a far lower access bill than traditional methods.

Where high-pressure cleaning works best

RAIL’s rope access pressure-washing teams routinely tackle:

  1. Hard cladding panels: composite, aluminium and curtain-wall systems where the manufacturer permits pressurised cleaning.
  2. Modern brick and engineering brick: robust substrates that can take real pressure without damage.
  3. Concrete façades and balconies: removing soot, traffic film and biological staining.
  4. Roofs, gutters and rainwater systems: clearing leaves, moss, debris and bird fouling.
  5. Walkways, decks and ground-floor hardstanding: removing gum, oil and ingrained dirt.
  6. Industrial structures: silos, chimneys, tank exteriors and steelwork before recoating.

For softer or more sensitive surfaces (heritage stone, terracotta, soft brick) we recommend DOFF cleaning or brick and masonry cleaning chemistry instead.

Matched pressure, controlled water

Not every high-pressure job runs at the same setting. Our technicians select the right combination of pressure, flow rate, nozzle type and detergent for the substrate.

We use water-fed reach systems for glass and lightly soiled cladding, hot-water units for greasy contamination, and chemical pre-treatment for biological growth — all run from rope.

Safety and tenant care, every time

Every RAIL technician is IRATA certified and works under a written risk assessment and method statement.

High-pressure cleaning at height adds extra hazards, including:

  • lance reaction
  • water ingress
  • working surfaces
  • electrical safety near services

Our team plans for all of these potential issues. We use catch sheets, exclusion zones and signed-off working windows to keep people, vehicles and planting safe below.

Often combined with other rope access works

Most high-pressure cleaning projects sit alongside building maintenance tasks — gutter clearance, parapet inspection, mastic checks and brick repointing.

RAIL will design a single mobilisation that covers all of it, so you only pay for rope access set-up once and your building comes back as a complete, properly maintained envelope.
